Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 November 2026

This policy explains what information is handled when you visit Nexus 501 and play its League of Legends esports quiz. It reflects the features currently on the site.

Who operates Nexus 501

Nexus 501 is operated by the site owner. Before publishing, add the operator’s name and a contact email here. For privacy questions or requests, contact: data@teuthic.com.

Information used by the game

The game saves your daily score, picks and help-dialogue preference in your browser’s local storage so your progress can remain available in that browser. This game-progress data is not sent to the game’s server. You can remove it by clearing this site’s browser storage; doing so also resets your saved game.

To count participation, the site creates a random browser ID and stores it in local storage. When you make your first valid pick for a question, the site sends that ID and the question title to a Netlify Function. The server keeps one record for that browser ID and question, with a timestamp, and uses the records to show aggregate attempt counts. The ID is not a name or account, but it is a persistent pseudonymous identifier. Clearing browser storage can cause that browser to be counted again.

Attempt records are stored using Netlify Blobs. There is currently no automatic expiry period; records remain until the site operator deletes them or the service is discontinued. The public tracker shows counts by question, not browser IDs.

Hosting and service providers

Nexus 501 is hosted on Netlify and uses Netlify Functions and Blobs for the attempt counter. Netlify may process technical information, such as IP address, browser or device details, and request information, to provide, secure and operate its services. The site’s attempt-counter code does not read or save visitors’ IP addresses. See Netlify’s privacy statement.

Buy Me a Coffee

The main game page loads a Buy Me a Coffee button script from their content delivery network. This means the visitor’s browser connects to Buy Me a Coffee when the page loads. Buy Me a Coffee may receive technical and usage information and may use cookies or similar technologies under its own policies. If you use the button or visit its page, Buy Me a Coffee handles that interaction under its privacy policy and cookie policy. Nexus 501 does not receive your payment card details.

Bug reports

The Report a Bug control is in the game footer. The Jotform embed loads only when you open the bug-report dialog. If you submit a report, the information you enter is sent to Jotform and made available to the Nexus 501 form owner so they can review the issue. Jotform may also process technical information about your visit and submission. The form shows which fields it asks for; please do not include passwords, payment details or other sensitive information. See Jotform’s privacy policy for its data handling and retention information.

Cookies, local storage and tracking

Nexus 501 does not currently use Google Analytics or advertising networks. It does use local storage for game progress and its own participation counter, as described above. The embedded Buy Me a Coffee script and the Jotform embed (loaded when you open the report dialog) may use cookies or similar technologies; their handling is governed by their respective policies. Your browser settings can help you manage or clear local storage and cookies. The rules for these technologies depend on where you are and how they are used.

Sharing and external links

If you choose to share a result, the text is passed to the sharing service or app you select. External services and links, including Buy Me a Coffee and Netlify, have their own privacy practices. Review their policies before using them.

How we use information

Browser-stored game data is used to provide the game and preserve your progress. The random ID and question title are used to prevent repeat counting from the same browser profile and to display aggregate participation totals. We do not use the game data for advertising, sell it, or use it to contact players.

For the browser-saved game features, the information is used to provide the game you choose to play. For the participation counter, the site operator’s purpose is to understand how many browser profiles try each question and show those totals. The count data is not used to identify or contact you.

Where data protection law applies to the counter data, the site operator relies on a legitimate interest in measuring participation by question and improving the quiz. The counter is limited to a random browser ID, question title and timestamp. You can object or make another privacy request using the contact details above.

Where information may be processed

Netlify, Buy Me a Coffee and Jotform may process information in the United States or other countries where they or their service providers operate. Their privacy policies describe their handling of information and any international transfers.

Your choices and requests

If you are in the UK, you may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Children

Nexus 501 is a general-audience quiz and does not ask players to submit names, email addresses or account details. The site operator does not knowingly seek personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the site’s features or data practices change. The date at the top indicates when it was last revised.
